  • Financial Literacy training: Equity Bank & True North Leadership

True North Leadership students with creative ideas for improving businesses

“It will really change the community!” stated Pamela, one of our local community leaders and entrepreneurs. The community will have a higher income, and even the education possibilities and the health status will improve.

Everyone is quietly listening to the words of Lillian, the trainer from Equity Bank, as she is talking about savings, good debts and bad debts, group accounts, budgeting, income, insurance, health insurance, entrepreneurship. And Salome Wanjiku is more than busy noting down these important headlines of the 3 months Financial Literacy Programme which Equity Bank is now providing to the Kenyans with a target of more than 620,000 people.

True North Leadership Academy has invited representatives for students, staff, parents, and local entrepreneurs to participate in this meeting with the trainer in Financial Literacy, Lillian.

The questions are many and they witness that there is a great interest and need for the banking products – all of them! It is a challenge for many of the families in the communities we work with, as banking products have not been very accessible to the common people of Kenya.

Charles concentrated on creating a business plan

This basically means that there is limited access to saving accounts, loans, and insurance.  In many communities this has then created the need for savings groups, where a group of people join forces and by saving together also provide a possibility for credit facilities to the members in the group, as well as future possibilities for micro credit.

The low level of credit facilities has an impact on the investment opportunities, and it is clear that the access to liquidity, money, is essential for growth in Kenya.

Entrepreneurship needs capital and Financial Literacy

Financial Literacy is essential for the access to liquidity, as well as for running a business and  a house hold.

We have partnered up with Equity Bank to have them giving their professional training to our students, staff, parents, partners, and the local communities around our students.

Our dream is to see the participants gain a knowledge which will enable them to move to the next step in pursuing their dreams, and our mission and vision links up very well with Equity Bank:

    Purpose of Equity Bank:

We exist to transform the lives and livelihoods of our people socially and economically by availing them modern, inclusive financial services that maximize their opportunities.

  • Martine Kappel talks for Moches Models

    Safari Dreams

Modeling requires Confidence, Self Esteem, State Management, Dedication, Dreams, Playfulness.

The balcony of the Theater is packed with glowing eyes belonging to the Models auditioning for the African Fashion Fair. Dorothy Oliech, founder of Mochez Models, tall, slender is busy measuring the models, and coordinating, which is a bit of a task with 52 people.

Smile from the heart, Dorothy Oliech

The first talk, on behalf of True North College and Conscious Living, to the Models at Moches was about Self Esteem and Self Confidence, and differentiating between Human Being and Human Doing. This is so essential for being able to receive feedback in a healthy way.

“Dorothy, you are very lucky to have models who are so open to stepping into new places, and the discussions about intentions and having dreams coming true was indeed inspiring, I wish we had had more time!” Says Martine Kappel, Trainer of Neuro Semantics.

It is rare to sit with 52 people who show that behind the good looks, so much more is present.

“Martine, I had a really good talk with the models after the talk. They really opened up, and we could talk about helping upcoming models, giving back to society, and about being together as a team so we can help build up the fashion industry in Kenya”  is the statement from Dorothy Oliech.

There are great visions behind Mochez, and one of the conclusions was that Martine Kappel will do another training, and assist the models in actualizing some of their dreams, as they will come to True North College and assist us in achieving our visions!

“The Male Models are eager to visit you at True North College” says Dorothy Oliech, “And they are ready to help”

    Dorothy Oliech, Mochez Models

The next training will be on State Management.

The questions to the designers will be:

“What states would you like to express to the audience?

The question to the model is:

“What state do you need to be in, to express these clothes, and what inner resources to you need to express this in the best possible way?

We will build the Circle of Excellence!

The question to the assist team:

“What state do you need to be in for you to best assist the models in expressing exactly what he/she desires to express?”

Charles and Caroline (Director of Theatre) discussing how True North Students will become active in the Theatre world

The collection of panties and pads has been happening  in many places on earth, and at the moment there are thousands and thousands, so this is really going to touch thousands of girls.

True North was invited to train the girls in self leadership and public speaking, and they went through part of the training that also the students at True North College undergo.

Anne has traveled from Samburu to True North College for an education as a CPA. She is an extraordinary young woman, who is highly involved in her community and in improving the conditions.

As many others world wide she is inspired by Rebeca, who’s story is highly unusual as it bears witness of a womans fight for not just her own rights but for the right and respect of so many others.

His Manager, Dennis Muganwa, was also a true creative inspiration of ideas, especially talking about our idea of starting a cradle.
